Responsibilities
  • Business process analysis for enterprise level .NET student management system implementations, and categorizing the current state for multiple universities.

  • Development of scripted interactions to manage data across ~3000 core tables and user interactions across the enterprise level solution, involving C# and Visual Basic custom scripts aimed to overcome the inherit limitations of Cloud databases, such as lack of direct access, by facilitating an ETL functionality.

  • Reporting development to meet government standards across integrated systems, such as SSRS reporting and higher education specific TSCI.

  • Migration of the on-premises software solution with over 60 integrated platforms to an AWS hosted PaaS, maintaining the same integrations with updated Cloud interfaces, such as REST APIs.

Achievements
  • Successful migration from an on-premises software solution for Flinders’ University and Central Queensland University with no impact to the operational hours.

  • Completion of migration from varying databases languages per client, both PL/SQL and SQL Server.

  • Successfully application of business logic through scripting to extend beyond a multi-tenanted code base.


Systems Engineer

Responsibilities
  • Daily operational support for a PL/SQL finance databases in development environments.

  • Development of functionality for a front-end Oracle system in JavaScript, consisting primarily of user requested macros to prevent incorrect entry of data and visual elements.

  • Investigation into existing custom database functionality, and deprecating anything found to be of risk or that could mismatch data.

  • Documentation of existing processes and new developments to meet government legislated security requirements for university financials.

Achievements
  • Implementation of a REST based alert system security systems. This system integrated with the universities ITILs incident management software to improve visibility on critical database issues, reducing incident response times.


Service Management Developer

Responsibilities
  • Analysis of processes within the University where system automation has yet to take place. Then further evaluation to provide recommendations for how they can utilise or integrate their systems with an ITILs service request methodology.

  • Development of service requests for an Apache hosted ITILs incident management platform. Primarily accomplished through in-house visual scripting, although extensible to C# allowing for development of customised functionality.

  • Instructing clients on use of these bespoke software extensions.

Achievements
  • Designed and implemented several key user experience pieces still used widely by the university. Most prominently, a C# based bulk service request data entry platform, used to decrease front-end staff transcription time by over 50%.

  • Early adoption of emergent artificial intelligence technologies in the higher education sector. Demonstrably, a proof of concept “chatbot” (written in Python and integrated through Facebook APIs) used to demonstrate business advantages for automated client communication.
